Ministry Overview:

Power to Change (P2C) is an organization that seeks to collectively as well as individually, spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through movements of evangelism and discipleship. No matter what type of work those involved with P2C do, whether they are staff or volunteers, we understand that our work collectively is to further this overall mission. In accordance with our mission statement to spread the gospel, everyone who applies to be involved will be required to sign and adhere to the Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.

Position Overview:

Athletes in Action campus staff seek to catalyze spiritual growth, leadership skills and emotional well-being among all varsity athletes. Holistically, we desire to influence the development of the total athlete – mind, body, and spirit. This is primarily accomplished through sharing the Christian gospel message, small group bible studies, one on one personal ministry, and service projects/outreach with athletic teams on campus.

The intern would be exposed to, coached through, and challenged with all of the above facets of ministry. The purpose being to expand ministry experience and skill sets, and aid in the determination of future involvement and career path.

Responsibilities:

  • Outreach to varsity teams through testimony sharing
  • Leading, facilitating, and teaching bible studies
  • Mentoring/Discipleship: 
    • Providing spiritual counsel
    • Loving, serving, encouraging, and caring for athletes
    • Identifying and developing future ministry leaders
  • Aiding in planning, executing and promoting student retreat (March), and National Training Camp (AIA’s annual Sport and Faith conference – May)
  • Compiling, composing and distributing ministry stories to supporters, alumni and social media
  • Auditing current systems and processes for effectiveness
  • Studying foundational Christian theology and pragmatic leadership skills

Education and Experience:

  • University Degree or equivalent

The Preferred Applicant:

  • Possesses a deep growing, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ
  • A genuine desire to see lives changed through the context of sport
  • Is a proactive self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a free-flowing work environment
  • Has a willingness to learn and step out of their comfort zone
  • Desires to utilize their unique gifts and life experiences to enhance the ministry
  • No previous ministry experience or varsity sport involvement is required

Funding: Ministry Partner Development

This position requires support raising. Ministry Partner Development, MPD is the process in which the successful candidate cultivates a team of individuals that are committed to the prayer and financial support of the ministry. This financial support will cover the intern’s salary and any related ministry expenses including but not limited to conference costs, mileage and other related reimbursements. Athletes in Action, a division of Power to Change ministries, believes that support raising is biblical and that God will provide everything necessary to fulfill the calling into ministry: finances, emotional strength and perseverance. Ministry Overview

Athletes in Action (a division of Power To Change) is a ministry that seeks to collectively as well as individually, spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by building movements of evangelism and discipleship through spiritual multipliers in the athletic world. No matter what type of work those involved with AIA do, whether they are staff or volunteers, we understand that our work collectively is to further this overall mission. We envision the day when there is a multiplying disciple on every team and in every sporting community in Canada.

Position Overview

AIA Campus Staff serve as full-time ministers and chaplains. They lead and actively foster spiritual growth among groups of amateur and varsity athletes through their devotion to God, leadership development, and the application of biblical principles.

Responsibilities

Campus (80%):

  • Provide spiritual counsel and advice to groups and individuals on spiritual, ethical, and life principles as well as ministers to their needs
  • Actively conduct outreach activities to amateur and varsity athletes and their families
  • Build relationships with coaches, athletes, and support staff at the university level
  • Lead Bible studies and engage in discipleship with athletes and coaches
  • Speak at pre-game chapels and team meetings
  • Train and equip student athletes for multiplying ministry
  • Work closely with churches and youth pastors in the community to ensure opportunity for Christian athletes to use their platform in the community
  • Challenge and recruit athletes to international tours, projects, national retreats, conferences, and camps
  • Work closely with other regional AIA campus staff and other campus ministries

Other (20%):

  • Attend and help lead at national and international AIA projects and events
  • Help lead, instruct, and counsel at AIA youth camps during the summer months

Requirements:

Ministry Partner Development is the process of building a partnership team which provides financial and prayer support for the ministry. The financial support will cover the costs of the candidate’s salary and ministry expenses. Position Overview

The Director of Ministry Domains is responsible for the leadership and management of the Community, University, Pro, and Elite Amateur domains with Athletes in Action. These domains are the primary way AIA fulfills its mission and therefore it is key to have a leader who can set vision, help plan for growth and greater fruitfulness, as well as encourage, support, and coach the leaders of these respective areas. This key leadership role needs a strong leader with experience in managing teams. This person has a heart to share the love of Christ and will lead out of this place and inspire their team to a bigger vision.

Primary Objectives

    1. AIA has strong ministry domain leadership at the national level
      • Fully participate as a member of the National Leadership Team, including regular and impactful
        meeting attendance
      • Leadership of special projects as required
      • Lead and exemplify the AIA core values
    2. Community, University, Pro, and Elite Amateur domains are growing in their ministry impact
      • Leaders are inspired with a God-sized vision
      • Leaders are seeking and testing opportunities for growth in their ministry areas
    3. Domain directors receive effective leadership and management in their work to fulfill the AIA mission
      • Domain Council meetings are planned and led effectively
      • Direct reports and their teams aim high and are held accountable to achieving results,
        celebrating wins, and growing, both personally and professionally
      • Domain leaders are being inspired in their roles, and receive both functional and spiritual
        leadership
      • Budgets, staffing, and priorities of the domains align with the core mission, vision, and values
        of AIA

Position Overview

The Director of Ministry Initiatives is responsible for the leadership and management of the Athletes in Action ministry initiatives. This includes: Global Strategies, Quebec Initiative, Coaching 4 Life, SportAid, and Indigenous Initiative. This is a new role for Athletes in Action and the desire is for this person to provide practical leadership to these strategies that, for the most part, have existed separately. The primary focus in this role is not to expand and grow each strategy, but to help the leader’s of each strategy increase their capacity and effectiveness. The Director of Ministry Initiatives is an integrator who connects these strategies to the whole of AIA and who provides vision and entrepreneurship. This person has a willingness to try new things, innovate, and prototype with the strategy leaders.

Primary Objectives

    1. Active member of the National Leadership Team
      • Provide strong leadership to entire organization through modeling AIA’s core values
      • Help to make the NLT a more high functioning team
      • Attend weekly meetings with the NLT and quarterly Ministry Management MeetingsFully participate as a member of the National Leadership Team, including regular and impactful meeting attendance
    2. Global Strategies, Quebec Initiative, Coaching 4 Life, SportAid, and Indigenous Initiative are growing in their ministry impact
      • Each initiative director is moving towards a common vision and direction
      • Leaders are inspired with a God-sized vision
    3. Ministry initiative directors receive effective leadership and management in their work to fulfill the AIA mission
      • Planning and leading the Domain Council meetings with the NLT and the direct reports
      • Motivate people and teams to aim high and hold them accountable to the results, celebrate wins, and grow personally and professionally.
      • Provides inspirational leadership, as well as spiritual and functional direction to the leaders
      • Ensures that the budgets, staff and priorities are aligned with the core mission, vision and values of AIA

Social Media Coordinator

Position Overview

The Social Media Coordinator will support the Marketing and Communications department to increase digital engagement with Athletes in Action (AIA) stakeholders and audiences and help them connect to AIA’s mission. As a creative member of this team, you will help AIA create engaging content that inspires, resources, and informs the various audiences, staff, volunteers and the public; ultimately growing our audience(s) in number and in engagement. You will report to the Manager of Marketing and Communications and work collaboratively with the Communications and Development team.

Primary Objectives

  1. Content and Social Media Strategy
    • Manage content and proactively engage with audiences on all primary social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn & YouTube)
    • Generate and share content that seeks to inspire, resource and inform AIA audiences with a desire to see increased digital engagement across all social media platforms leading to real world actions such as:
      • Subscribes to AIA email marketing list, ticket sales for fundraisers and outreach events, registrations for summer camps, clubs, and various Campus events, and a growing recurring monthly donor base
    • Collaborate on social media campaigns (if relevant) with AIA domains, the Power to Change social media team as well as other P2C ministries and external partnerships
    • Create content applicable to current or upcoming ministry seasons, events, and AIA donor campaigns
    • Collaborate and curate stories across the AIA team to highlight impact and transformation
    • Produce posts and stories utilizing a variety of creative mediums, including photos, videos, written content, and graphic design
  2. Industry trends and Updates
    • Research and recommend best social media platforms or strategies to reach AIA’s audiences
    • Maintain consistent branding across all official social media platforms and AIA Social Media sub-accounts, using the AIA Brand Guidelines
    • Understand and leverage key metrics to increase our engagement
    • Using social listening tools and monitoring strategies to be up-to-date on conversations happening online, and culturally relevant to AIA

Education and Experience:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in social media marketing
  • Experience in higher-level sport community is an asset

Requirements:

  • You have a deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus;
  • You have a genuine desire to serve others well both within and outside of the ministry;
  • You have a professional approach and demeanour
  • You are a reliable, dependable and collaborative team player;
  • You are design-minded and working knowledge of Canva (Adobe creative suite or program alike);

  • You understand how to engage with our audience across Canada through social media platforms
  • You know how to design and implement content strategies that build AIA online presence.
  • You will be comfortable working on social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and willing to learn any other relevant platforms.
