WHO WE ARE
A not-for-profit Christian sports ministry dedicated to developing the total athlete.
We encourage athletes to think critically about their identity and place within the world of sport. Through the integration of faith, life, and sport we believe each person can experience a victory beyond competition.
WHAT WE DO
Impacting local, national, and international sporting communities.
We can be found running beginner to high performance development camps, journeying with varsity athletes on campus, as well as assisting international organizations through sport and aid tours. As an interdenominational organization, you will see us in churches around Canada helping to equip and assist connecting with the local community through the universal language of sport. We also provide chaplaincy to professional athletes and teams throughout the CFL, NHL, NBA, MLS, NASL, and NLL, as well as to athletes competing at the highest levels in their sport, including world championships and the Olympic Games.
History
Athletes in Action Canada was established in 1974 when a group of professional athletes and Campus Crusade for Christ ministry leaders got together with the purpose of telling others about the hope they found in Christ. From that initiative began an athletic movement in Canada designed to impact the nation.
Within months, Athletes in Action Canada began a widespread expansion to university campuses across the country followed by the first annual Grey Cup Breakfast in 1978 and summer sport camps in 1979. Today, Athletes in Action Canada continues to influence a number of sporting communities with a presence on over 25 university campuses, and running more than 150 sport camps each summer.
